Last week we went over WordPress.org, so this week we are going to compare WordPress.org to WordPress.com. Yeah, there’s a big difference.
WordPress dot org AND WordPress dot com. They are 2 completely different beasts.
Well, not completely different. WordPress dot com is owned by the people who started WordPress dot org.
But WordPress dot org is an open-source software that anyone can take and make work however they want. While WordPress dot com is a software-as-a-service company that is very similar to other website builders, like Squarespace, Wix, Weebly, etc.
The reason I’m doing this episode is because a lot of people mix them up. I’ve had people tell me before that they’re already on WordPress, but what I’m saying doesn’t make much sense to what they’re looking at.
Then I take a look at their site and it’s like, “Well, you’re on WordPress.com, which is different than WordPress.org.”
It also makes a big difference in how your website works with your business, so you want to make sure you make the right choice. To make the right choice, you need to know all your options.
